Inside the TradingGrove
trading journal.

Every tool here exists to answer one question: what should you change about your trading? This page walks through each feature, the question it answers, and what a realistic first three months of journaling looks like.

One loop: Plan, Log, Review.

Consistent traders repeat a simple cycle every session. TradingGrove gives each phase its own tool, so the loop takes minutes instead of willpower.

1 · Plan

Before the session

Set your bias, check the news, run through your rules, and size the trade with the risk calculator before you enter.

2 · Log

During and after

Capture each trade in seconds: pair, direction, strategy, timeframe, PNL, R-multiple, confidence, mood and a chart screenshot.

3 · Review

Weekly

Open the analytics, read what the week actually looked like, and pick one thing to change. Small corrections, compounded.

The tools, one by one.

Each tool answers a question you cannot answer from memory or a spreadsheet without real effort.

Smart Trade Log

What exactly have I been trading?

The core of the journal: a fast, structured log with 13+ data points per trade. Filter by pair, strategy, mood or timeframe and your whole history becomes searchable evidence instead of a blur. Logging a trade takes about 30 seconds, which is the difference between a journal you keep and one you abandon.

What changes for you: you stop arguing with your memory. When you think "shorts have been working", the log either confirms it or corrects you.

Pre-Session Planning

Am I about to trade my plan, or my feelings?

A short checklist before you open a chart: market bias, upcoming news, your rules for the day. After the session, a reflection prompt closes the loop. Two minutes at each end of a session, and impulsive entries have to get past a written plan first.

What changes for you: fewer unplanned trades. Most traders find their worst losses were never in the morning's plan.

Deep Analytics

Where do I actually make and lose money?

Computed automatically from every logged trade: equity curve with drawdowns, win/loss split, strategy PNL breakdown, mood vs performance, hour heatmap, day-of-week analysis, Long vs Short, timeframe breakdown and most-traded pairs. This is where a losing scalping habit or a profitable "boring" setup becomes impossible to miss.

What changes for you: you learn your real expectancy. A 41% win rate with 2.7R winners is a business; the analytics show whether your numbers work like that.

Trade Calendar

How does my month really look?

A monthly grid of green and red days with PNL and trade count on each. Click a day to open the trades behind it. Red streaks stop feeling like a broken system once you see them sitting inside a profitable month.

What changes for you: perspective. One bad Tuesday reads very differently on a calendar that is green overall.

Notes & Screenshot Gallery Pro · Unlimited Images

What did the chart actually look like when I entered?

Paste chart screenshots straight from your clipboard onto any trade, add notes with autosave, and browse the full gallery when reviewing. Your entry chart is evidence; without it, hindsight quietly rewrites every setup into something cleaner than it was.

What changes for you: honest reviews. You grade the trade you actually took, not the one you remember.

Live Risk Calculator

How big should this position be?

Enter account size, risk percentage, entry and stop loss; get position size, risk amount and R:R instantly. Built for crypto today, with a forex version planned. Position sizing is the risk management habit that keeps a 7-trade losing streak survivable, and it works best decided before the trade, not during it.

What changes for you: every loss costs roughly the same. That single discipline is what makes expectancy math hold up in real life.

What your first 90 days look like.

Journaling pays out on a delay. Here is the realistic timeline, based on how the analytics fill in as your trade count grows.

Weeks 1-2

Build the habit

You log every trade, win or lose, about 30 seconds each. The pre-session checklist starts catching a few impulse entries. The data is still thin, and that is fine; the habit is the product at this stage.

Month 1

First patterns surface

With 30 to 50 trades logged, the hour heatmap and mood chart start saying something. Maybe your afternoon trades run negative, or "frustrated" entries lose twice as often. You make your first evidence-based change: a stopped hour, a two-loss rule.

Month 3

Expectancy becomes visible

Around 100+ trades, the strategy breakdown is trustworthy. You know which setup earns its risk and which has been draining it, what your real average winner and loser look like, and whether your sizing survives your worst streak. Reviews shift from "how do I feel" to "what does the data say".
